I picked up a Inch style dumbbell (baby inch, it weighs 140 lbs, rather than 172). But has the same handle size (2.4"). I can barely break it off the ground with each hand, so I have some training to do. Goal is to lift it to the waist, with each hand. The handle thickness is what makes it hard. Lifting a normal 140 lb. bell is easy (obviously). Another training tool I just got is this GHP Secret Weapon (modeled from Joe Kinneys famous grip machine). One can do very heavy negatives using this ssecret weapon. -------------
